About Paide
Paide is a small inland town in Järva County, known for its medieval castle and as the birthplace of composer Rudolf Tobias. Its compact centre has a grid of streets around the central square and castle park. The castle ruins and museum sit in a quiet, green area. The central square, Keskväljak, is convenient for shops and cafes. Paide lies about 90 km from Tallinn and 100 km from Tartu. Buses run regularly to both cities, taking around 1.5 to 2 hours from Tallinn, and there is no passenger train service. The town is small enough to walk, with local buses and limited taxis. Late spring to early autumn offers mild weather and a green castle park. Summer brings the Paide Music Festival and medieval days at the castle.
