About Rakvere
Rakvere is a small town in northern Estonia, in Lääne-Viru County. Its landmark is Rakvere Castle, a 13th-century fortress with a later manor house, now a museum and event venue. The town is also known for its theatre and a distinctive bull statue. The compact centre around the pedestrian street and town square is convenient for shops, cafes and the castle. Nearby, the castle area is quieter and close to a park. Tammiku, a residential district south of the centre, has a more local atmosphere. Most attractions are within walking distance, and local buses serve the wider area. Buses and trains connect Tallinn with Rakvere, with journeys taking around 1.5 to 2 hours. Late spring to early autumn is mild, while winter can be cold and snowy.
